D&R Computers news archive! Yay!

12.14.11: Expanded inventory at Defiance location.

Much more fun stuff in store at our Defiance location, including laptops starting at $399.95, with ranges going up from there in increments of roughly $50 to $75. More parts, components, screens, and just good stuff in general! Just in time for the holiday season! Yay!

12.13.11: Virus infections back on the rise.

Within the last 6 weeks we have seen a massive rise in virus infected machines. These new infections are proving to be difficult to clean in a non-destructive manner, but so far we have been able to figure every single one out. *knock on wood* Be careful what email you're opening, what links you're clicking, what ads you view, where you shop, and remember: If it says "free" it usually isn't.

11.10.11: Used/refurbished equipment selling strong.

The used/refurbished retail side of things continues to go real strong. This could be a sign of the condition of the economy, or the fact that computers are just becoming cheaper and less of a need for people now that cell phones have came so far. This is just a rough guesstimate, it could be for any reason, but one thing is for sure; People are always asking about used equipment. With desktops starting at $95, that nets you a Intel P4 CPU, 512mb RAM, 80gb HDD, and a licensed copy of Windows XP Home or Pro. As for laptops, the same specs can be had for around $125 on up.

11.8.11: A word on the hard drive shortage.

Due to the recent flooding in Thailand, hard drive availability is down to an estimated 25%. This has caused pricing to shoot through the roof, with most sizes tripling in cost. Vendors are also asking us to check back every 24 hours for up to date pricing and delivery estimates, with the possibility of updates needing to be done by the hour if the situation gets any worse. This obviously has an effect on desktop and laptop pricing as well.

6.21.11: D&R Computers Defiance expands parking options!

If you've ever visited our downtown Defiance store, you'll notice how tight the parking is at just about any time of the day. We've added the option of customer parking out behind our building, marked by the D&R Parking signs, close by the State Bank drive through. Hopefully this'll help with the constant downtown parking issues that plague growth for almost every nearby business.

6.7.2011: D&R Computers laptop donation!

D&R has donated a laptop to Cure Childhood Cancer Now, for use with their book keeping tasks and other various administrative duties! We'll soon be featured in a Crescent News pictorial, announcing the donation between D&R co-owner Desmond Shepherd (me!) and CCCN member Stacie Wagner. We wish all members of CCCN the best of luck in their endeavors, and more importantly the lives they touch through their efforts.

6.1.2011: D&R Computers joins the Henry County Chamber!

Last week we joined the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, took some funny pics of our goofy selves, and even shot a surprise on the spot video with Randy and I explaining some of the things we offer here at D&R. We were pictured in the Crescent News to celebrate our opening, and also the Napoleon Signal which also features an interview with Randy. Fun!

5.16.2011: Napoleon location is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

Napoleon is finally a reality! Stop by to see Randy, and give him a hard time. We're rolling with the same hours as Defiance, 9-6 through the week and 10-2 on Saturdays. We offer all of the same services, too, and we'll be making a lot of changes to the layout over the next month so drop in and check us out!

5.13.2011: Dean Taylor joins the D&R staff in Defiance!

Dean will be lending a much needed hand to our Defiance store, now that Randy is off in Napoleon leading things there. Dean brings experience to the team, having worked with us already at our previous company a few years back, and having worked for a similar company in Reno, Nevada. Come in and ask him a bunch of tough questions, make him earn his keep!
